Various types of scheduling algorithms are used by load balancers to determine which backend server to send a request to. Simple algorithms include random choice or round robin. High-performance systems may use multiple layers of load balancing. Load balancing is the process of distributing client request over the set of servers and is a key element of obtaining good performance in distributed application..
